I believe that our pets are part of the family & I will care for your pet as if they were a member of my family. I will treat them with absolute love and the utmost respect.

I have been around animals all my life. In fact, I can’t imagine a life without them. I think every animal has their own individual personality & I absolutely love getting to know them. I try my best to capture their personalities with the photos I take.

Seniors have a special place in my heart. I have adopted several thru the years & I try to make sure every day they have is filled with love & joy. I have extensive experience taking care of Senior & Special needs animals. I know that these challenges need to be met with patience & love. Incontinence is met with understanding, not disdain. I know to look out for signs of potential ACL tears & that the smallest thing like feet slipping on a wood floor can be a real obstacle for them. I know the tricks of giving pills (for those times when peanut butter or sweet potato doesn’t work), eye drops, even using an AeroKat with cats who have asthma.

I am officially Pet CPR & First Aid certified. I carry a sling, dog lift harness for large dogs, a specialized first aid kit and a ramp in my car. I purposely drive a car that is dog friendly. It has doggy seatbelts, is low to the ground (so I can get large dogs in the backseat in an emergency) & I don’t care if the interior gets messed up. If there is an emergency, I will do everything in my power to make sure they quickly get the aid they need.

I also have experience with puppies & understand the special attention they require. I understand the importance of being consistent with corrections and training. I will make sure to watch for & correct any bad habits you want me to keep an eye on. As well as making sure to use the art of distraction to get them to stop doing unwanted behaviors and instead to do desired behaviors. I like to use a clicker & low calorie treats so that they can easily learn good behaviors.

My schedule is extremely flexible. I work from home on East coast hours and most days I am always free after 10:15 AM. If you need me earlier than that, with advanced notice I can usually adjust my schedule to meet your needs, just let me know & I will see how I can make it work.

I realize everyone has different rules for their pets. Some let their pets roam freely around the house. Others do not want their dogs on the furniture. Or allow their cats on the countertops. Whatever your rules are, I will make sure they are followed. I will use a sharp verbal No! to enforce them, if further correction is required, I will use positive reinforcement.

What Janice would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your cat or dog does not like to be touched in certain areas. Or if they have any allergies or diet restrictions. Also if your dog has a favorite scratch spot let me know that too!

I like to use a clicker and small, extremely low calorie treats as rewards to engage them & keep their attention. If you do not want these used, no problem, just let me know.

If your dog is tough on a leash please let me know ahead of time so that I am prepared. And also please let me know if your dog has trouble regulating their behavior, sometimes aggressive, a leash puller or a critter chaser. This way I will be sure to be very careful to limit & avoid any possible distractions.

I absolutely love playing with cat & dogs. They need mental & physical challenges. If your cat is playful, I will be sure to keep them busy with their favorite toys. Some of my favorite games with dogs are tug of war (you have to let them win!) , fetch, find the ball, dancing, and some good old fashioned belly rubbing.
